News Headline Violence against staff - 09/11/2007
Figures released this week by the NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management Service (CFSMS), have shown a very slight reduction in the number of reported physical assaults against staff at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. There was just 1 fewer than the previous year, with 60 physical assaults being reported during 01/04/06 to 31/03/07. (full story)
News Headline Trust has lowest MRSA and Clostridium Difficile numbers in North West - 05/11/2007

Figures released on 1st November by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show that Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust has the lowest number of cases of clostridium difficile, commonly known as C.diff, and of MRSA among North West general acute hospitals.

In the quarter April to June 2007, the Trust had just 23 cases of C.diff and 6 cases of MRSA infection.

Macmillan lung nurses in Southport and Ormskirk during November’s Lung Cancer Awareness Month are urging people not to delay in getting checked out if they have a cough that won’t go away or unusual chest pains.

Sue Summerfield & Janet Thompson, Macmillan lung nurses based at Southport and Formby District General Hospital are holding information awareness displays at both Southport and Ormskirk District General Hospitals during November. They are among Macmillan Cancer Support’s 184 lung cancer nurses.

Celebrations were in order recently at the Neonatal Unit at Ormskirk & District General Hospital when one of their residents reached the ripe old age of 100 days. “We were concerned she wouldn’t reach 100 hours when she was born”, said Jodie, mother of baby Jaxx. (full story)
