News Headline Bishop of Liverpool visits Trust - 16/05/2007
The Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool paid a visit to the Trust earlier this month. He was shown round Ormskirk & District General Hospital by the Chairman, Sir Ron Watson, the Chief Executive, Jonathan Parry and Janet Lloyd, Matron and Site Manager. News Headline Trust is a Top 40 Hospitals for sixth year running - 15/05/2007
For the sixth year running, Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust has been named among the top performers in the country’s sixth 40 Top Hospitals programme assessed by the country’s leading hospital benchmarking company, CHKS.  Figures released this week by independent benchmarking expert CHKS reveal that patients treated at a 40 Top Hospital are safer and less likely to pick up hospital acquired infections such as MRSA (full story)

News Headline Expecting a baby, or just had one? - 16/04/2007
On Saturday 21st April 2007 Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust are hosting the second Baby Day at Ormskirk Hospital for The National Childbirth Trust of Southport, Formby & Ormskirk. The event will start at 11.00am and finish at 4pm and is being held in the Antenatal Clinic area on Level 2. All are welcome, just come along! (full story)

In response to recent articles about the increase prices of telephone calls from the Patientline Service in hospitals, Andrew Green, Facilities Manager has made the following statement.

“The pricing of phone calls from Patientline Services is set by the company and has not been the subject of negotiation with the Trust. We do not benefit financially in any way from the bedside Patientline Services.

News Headline Hospital shop has its finger on the pulse and is the toast of the restaurant - 16/04/2007
The pre-operative team and restaurant staff would like to express their thanks to Audrey and Ron Stuart, who run the hospital shop at Ormskirk & District General Hospital. Audrey and Ron donate all the profit from the shop to various departments around the hospital and on this occasion they gave £630 to the pre-operative team and £875 to the restaurant. (full story)

The move of Audiology, ENT and the Eye Unit from the Southport General Infirmary at the end of this month will mean the end of General Hospital services on the Scarisbrick New Road site after a period of some 112 years. (full story)
News Headline Audiology, ENT and the Eye Unit are moving from the SGI - 22/03/2007
The Eye Unit, ENT service and Audiology service are moving from Southport General Infirmary. The last clinics will take place at Southport General Infirmary on Thursday 29th March. Outpatient clinics will take place either at Southport & Formby District General Hospital or Ormskirk & District General Hospital and you will be offered a choice as applicable. A confirmation letter will be sent to patients prior to their next attendance. (full story)
