In the first Annual Healthcheck the Healthcare Commission have rated the quality of services provided by Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust as ‘Good’.The Annual Healthcheck replaces the star ratings for NHS organisations and are a much more stringent assessment of a whole range of topics. News Headline Patient Transport Services - 22/08/2006
Following a review of Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust policy on Patient Transport Services, it has been found that a number of patients are using the Services when they are not entitled to do so. From the 1st October 2006, the existing policy will be more strictly enforced. (full story)
News Headline Trust's management of medicines is excellent, says health watchdog - 15/08/2006
In a report issued last week, Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust has been scored as excellent for the management of medicines. We are only one of 18 hospitals in England to have received this score.

The report issued by the Healthcare Commission follows the audit of 173 acute hospital trusts, which focused on the three themes of patient focus, clinical focus and efficiency and capability. Through consideration of a range of indicators the assessment gives a view of how well the trust is managing and improving its medicine related services. (full story)
News Headline Trust is still top for cleanliness - 26/07/2006
Figures published on Monday show that Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust still has the lowest rate of MRSA Bloodstream infection of any general acute hospital in the country.

Over the five years that Trusts have had to report figures to the Department of Health, the Trust has reported the lowest percentage rate of any General Acute Trust in the country having a total of only 52 cases during that time. (full story)
News Headline Trust launches phase two of cleanyourhands campaign - 18/07/2006
According to the National Patient Safety Agency’s cleanyourhands campaign; “…improving hand hygiene goes back to the basics of patient care. There is no simple way of reducing health care associated infection but improving hand hygiene compliance can have a significant impact.”

Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust was a leader in the campaign when it launched in February last year, and we have just launched phase two of the campaign. (full story)
